Logistics Operations Americas is part of Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) and has approximately 1000 employees in more than 20 locations within the region. Our job is to design, handle, and optimize the supply chain for all Volvo Group brands. The scope for Logistics Services includes making sure material is delivered to the production facilities, packaging is available, vehicles are distributed to the dealers, and that management of material, warehouses and distribution ensures the availability of parts everywhere in the world. We make sure all logistics services are delivered with world class operational excellence.
Purpose
The First Line Manager is responsible for an allocated area/flow in the Distribution Center, securing deliverables (SQDCEP) through process, performance, and people management, along with continuous improvement.
Scope
Manages an allocated part of the Distribution Center, in one of the operational areas (Inbound/Outbound/Mack)
Manages a number of Team Leaders and respective team members
Cooperates with colleagues and drives cross-functional work with support organizations, in order to secure deliverables in an end-to-end customer perspective
Engages other Volvo entities and third parties, for operational issues, when required
Enforce rules and regulations as set forth in any collective bargaining agreement, local work rules, and company policy
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Accountable for the operational performance in terms of SQDCEP in his/her area
Responsible for improving safety and ergonomics in the area
Securing analysis and corrective actions in case of accidents or incidents
Drive prevention through risk hunting and risk analysis
Increase safety culture via regular GEMBA walks and safety dialogue
Secure built in quality and work with customer feedback in order to constantly improve quality of the deliveries
Responsible for the timely deliveries towards dealers (including refill to SDC/RDC) and improvement of internal lead times
Responsible for the financial performance within the area by:
Securing efficiency targets
Identifying improvements opportunities and realizing cost savings
Ensures adherence to environmental policies and procedures
People and competence development in the area
Coaches Team Leaders and team members on warehouse floor
Conduct personal performance and development dialogues
Secures good communication up and down
Promotes the Volvo Group values and culture
Promotes and lives a strong continuous improvement mindset
Participate in process improvement activities or projects within his/her area
Develop improvement plans for own area that contribute to the overall DC improvement roadmap
Ensure compliance with all OD/VPS programs and communicate with subordinates as required
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum 10 years supervisory experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a DC/warehouse/manufacturing/logistics operations environment

Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in logistics or supply chain management
Military leadership at the Senior NCO/Junior Officer level
Lean manufacturing/logistics experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
